The Last Blog

I have to agree with Ian, billions of money goes to waste every year and we Americans do think that money fixes everything.  Well it doesn’t, the U.S. government needs to think about what we need and how we can help our neighbors here in the United States.  Why should we aid other countries that dislike us when there’s millions of hard working Americans being laid off every day?   We are using money today that will affect the lives of our great grandchildren, and if the debt just keeps accruing then we will only end up in bankruptcy like many other countries are facing too.  If our own military can’t even keep an accurate track of where supplies are or spent then how can we depend on them to defend and protect us? The supplies that aren’t just used for training soldiers they are a necessity for national security.  Therefore, they should be implicated with annual or even bi-annual audits. Everyone has to have checks and balances and if numbers don’t add up then normally that means that someone is attempting to cover accounting inaccuracies.

Immigration Reform

Why should Obama stop deportations?  If you violate a law then you should be punished, and the punishment is being deported.  We all know someone who has come to America illegally.  Most of them did it without getting caught, but there is that small percentage that goes through the long process of being a citizen.  The others when caught and deported will just pay a coyote to bring them back.  So if people want to stay America then they should be given two options:  1. Go through the path to citizenship. 2. Go home to your country from which you were born in.

Immigration has been an ongoing topic for decades and the Border States are the ones feeling the impact of the undocumented immigrants.  Yes, undocumented immigrants are throughout the country, but the most heavily concentration of them are in Texas, California, Nevada, and Arizona.  What happens when they break a law, what about the ones that are rapist, murderers, child molesters, or identity thief's.  Do we really want them to be able to work and be free while we incarcerate men and women for these same crimes?  Yet so many of them are hard workers and are not only trying to better their life, but the lives of their families too. They are willing to work long hours, do manual labor, and work for pennies on the dollar. So for many undocumented immigrants they come illegally out of a necessity to be able to provide for their families because the pay is so little in their home country.

On Monday November 25, 2013 Obama was in San Francisco discussing the immigration reform when he was abruptly interrupted by a young man that claims that Obama “has the power to end deportations.” Well, Obama doesn’t, the law(s) have to go through the Congress.  Congress is the branch of government with people that we elect to make decisions for us.  If the president were able to make and pass any law then that would defy what the founding fathers had strategized.  Obama was calm and listened to what this young man was saying and with great conviction was trying to get him to understand that yelling wasn’t going to get the immigration reform to pass any faster.

We are in need of an immigration reform and the undocumented immigrants need to understand that just because they may be good and will help our economy that they need to do so in the correct manner.  That is following the laws and become a citizen, even if it takes many years you can still get a work visa and continue to live here.  If these undocumented immigrants can’t complete these simple tasks then why should they just be pardoned, they should be deported.

Commentary on Caleb's Blog

I agree with Caleb's original-editorial blog that he wrote.  Even with the elementary shooting it is devastating and hits close to home for everyone and especially parents.  Guns are not the problem they are getting into the wrong hands.  As a person who sells guns I think that the personal selling of guns leaves you open to nothing but trouble.  The problem is that when a personal sell happens there is no paper trail and if a crime is committed then ATF will end up at the last known owner.  Well if this person sold it on craigslist then he/or she will be in a lot of trouble.  When a sell is done with a licensed firearm dealer the form 4473 has to be filled out and ran through the NICS system.  This too may sound good, but if the person filling it out has never been in trouble they could just as easily lie on the form and pass.  When I obtained my license the ATF agent told me that even if they pass you can still refuse to sell the firearm if they look suspicious.  Looks can be deceiving though, this person if crazy can go and commit a horrible offense.  The ways to obtain a gun do need to be stricter, but putting a limit on the capacity of rounds in a gun is not the way to fix the problem.  All that Obama did was make everyone rush out and stock up because they felt that their 2nd Amendment was being infringed upon. If private sells are to be done through a licensed dealer then this would help keep felons from obtaining guns, but the issue still lies with the people that haven’t been adjudicated mentally defective by a court. So, yes Caleb is correct guns don’t kill people, people kill people, the gun is just there and they made the decision to use it.

Cut in Food Stamps

As of November 1, 2013 if you are on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program you will be receiving less, $36 less to correct.  This means that millions of people here in the United States of America will have to work harder to put food on the table.  If you end up having to get a second or even a third job you may lose your benefits all together.  Wow!! That means that the government would not have to take the taxpayers money to feed these people that keep spitting kids out that can’t afford them.  It may seem harsh to say this, but honestly how many people have been to the Health and Human Services Commission office?  Well, I have and many people have newer and expensive vehicles for example: This one couple had a Cadillac Escalade and what about a BMW, or a Jaguar.  These vehicles were not ruin down on their last leg either; no they were well equipped with all the bells and whistles like big fancy rims and stereo systems too.  If they can afford that then they don’t need the assistance to put food on the table.  It has been proven that if you shop with coupons and store sales and discounts you can feed a family for a month reasonably.  They need to adjust spending habits.  On the other side though there many people who fall on hard times and need assistants for just a small amount time due to a job loss or a death of a parent.  This is more justifiable and with the help even if short term can make a large difference in a person’s life, especially when under great stress.

The government need to put a limit on how long and a maximum amount someone can have assistant.  We have a huge deficit and even penny that is cut from the spending budget the better.  They need to take into account though that some things will take time and most people will not like the idea.  If the people that need the assistant were better educated than they wouldn’t need it, the government could have a contract with them stating that they must acquire higher education.  In doing so they would receive financial aid to help them get the education they need.  If everyone on any government assistant program had this then that will encourage their children to go down a better path then to teach them to live off the taxpayers.  Over the year next few years there will be less and less people needing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and more money could pay off the national debt.

End of The Shutdown

With the end of the government shutdown the Free Republic has a blog posted with pictures and commentaries about how everything is back to normal and with the non-essential employees working too.
The focus of the blog is more for the conservative people out there who don’t like Obama. This blog shows Obama as a bad person, that he will do anything to have things done his way no matter what. Obama is also portrayed as being bored now with no one to have a battle with, and having the media and government offices wrapped around his little finger; willing to do what he says when he says to do so.
I found this blog to rather humorous; I enjoyed reading the smartass remarks that were placed with the pictures.   Although jobs are important for the economy  and maybe with the shutdown the government could see that some jobs are expendable and if they restructured jobs then that money that’s not being paid to someone could put a small dent in our deficit.  Especially since the debt ceiling has been raised. I personally feel that some of the pictures obtained have had some editing done to them.  Like the fly on Obama face, no way would I continue to speak with a fly on me.  Also, the poster stating “WE WON” with the oriental writing underneath, we don’t know what it really says or when it was printed.
This blog is a great demonstration of a one-sided view, and some conspiracy theorists would have a fill day exploding this blog trying to make the general public believe everything it says and shows.  For example at the end of the blog the picture of Obama with his middle finger up, is he really pissed off and really giving the bird or is just propping his head up and just using his fist and finger as a tripod. I could see this blog as being spread all over Facebook and other social networks.

Today in The New York Times an article was posted about how the government shutdown is affecting our country.  Adam Nagourney and Richard Perez-Peña are correct, I do think that in each state the governors are trying to figure out what is going to happen in a few weeks when all the federal money has been exhausted.  We have had so many budget cuts in the last few years due to the economy that many programs have been cut or just rearranged to fit in with other programs, and then there are some programs that have been alive only because of rainy day funds.

The national parks are important to not just the people of this country, but also to those who come from other countries to visit and see the sights.  Some states rely on tourist, the tourist are what keep the small towns alive.

Many of the programs at the school levels will be affected soon as well.  Most school systems have food, and early education programs; where will the schools get the money to pay for these services.  As T. Eloise Foster says “We have enough resources to get to the middle of October, and after that, it’s anybody’s guess what happens.” That is for the state of Maryland, other states could have a different financial stand point. There are people from all walks of life that depend on these programs.  If the states agree to pay for the programs to stay open then they need to have reassurance from the government that they will repay all expenses to the states for what has to be paid out.

This article is a wonderful eye opener to everyone.  Everybody depends on our government even if you are not on welfare, social security, or other programs like those.  Just having the right to go to a national park can be taken away.  All because of a government shutdown; in the long run this will only make our economy worse.

Is Congress Better Than Obamacare??

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/358550/congresss-exemption-obamacare-john-fund

This article I found I believe is important to read.  Many changes are coming in the near future in the way we receive medical care.  With the new Obamacare all Americans will need health insurance or be faced with a fine.  Senator David Vitter has expressed concerns to whether Congress should uphold the laws of Obamacare.  Senator David Vitter is trying to pass a bill the makes Congress and their staffs not exempt from Obamacare and make them pay for health insurance through their employer. In 1995, Congress passed an act that requires Congress to uphold the same laws as the general public. I have to agree with what Senator Chuck Grassley says “The more that Congress experiences the laws it passes, the better.”  This article also shows just how sneaky President Obama is with reading between the lines when he convened with the Office of Personnel Management so that Congress could keep their benefits.  This bill is making Congress upset because they don’t want the public to know about it, so in retaliation some dirt on Vitter came out about his phone number being found in a prostitution ring.  I feel that Congress is just mad and trying to make others live in tyranny.
