Cut in Food Stamps

As of November 1, 2013 if you are on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program you will be receiving less, $36 less to correct.  This means that millions of people here in the United States of America will have to work harder to put food on the table.  If you end up having to get a second or even a third job you may lose your benefits all together.  Wow!! That means that the government would not have to take the taxpayers money to feed these people that keep spitting kids out that can’t afford them.  It may seem harsh to say this, but honestly how many people have been to the Health and Human Services Commission office?  Well, I have and many people have newer and expensive vehicles for example: This one couple had a Cadillac Escalade and what about a BMW, or a Jaguar.  These vehicles were not ruin down on their last leg either; no they were well equipped with all the bells and whistles like big fancy rims and stereo systems too.  If they can afford that then they don’t need the assistance to put food on the table.  It has been proven that if you shop with coupons and store sales and discounts you can feed a family for a month reasonably.  They need to adjust spending habits.  On the other side though there many people who fall on hard times and need assistants for just a small amount time due to a job loss or a death of a parent.  This is more justifiable and with the help even if short term can make a large difference in a person’s life, especially when under great stress.

The government need to put a limit on how long and a maximum amount someone can have assistant.  We have a huge deficit and even penny that is cut from the spending budget the better.  They need to take into account though that some things will take time and most people will not like the idea.  If the people that need the assistant were better educated than they wouldn’t need it, the government could have a contract with them stating that they must acquire higher education.  In doing so they would receive financial aid to help them get the education they need.  If everyone on any government assistant program had this then that will encourage their children to go down a better path then to teach them to live off the taxpayers.  Over the year next few years there will be less and less people needing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and more money could pay off the national debt.

Ok we have all seen that single mother with three or four kids at the grocery store, screaming and throwing a fit over something they want but mommy can't afford it. That is truly a sad sight to see and my heart goes out to those families that do need the food stamps. People like Jennifer Crowder are aware of the recent cut downs of this program and some are being affected while others remain unscathed. Jennifer makes a rather good point as to these cut downs, some families will have to work a little harder to make up for that loss. Yes it doesn't seem much but that $36 can go a long way. Whether it's for gas, the children's hair cuts or simply to save up for that holiday turkey that NOT all of us in our nation get to enjoy.

Then we see those that abuse the system and should be ashamed of themselves driving around in luxury cars. Jennifer says " If they can afford that then they don’t need the assistance to put food on the table. It has been proven that if you shop with coupons and store sales and discounts you can feed a family for a month reasonably. They need to adjust spending habits..." (nobullinamerica.blogspot.com).

I totally agree with this statement because there are families that would do rather well if they budgeted themselves monthly and coupons have such an advantage when it comes to feeding a large family. Growing up I was part of a family of six and both parents worked and the children looked after one another. I can only remember like two times that we have ever used food stamps and that was for milk, eggs, bread, and cheese. Other than that my mother bought in bulk so that it would last longer and had a strict monthly budget. It paid off because every summer we were able to take a family vacation. Coupons are available EVERYWHERE and people should take advantage of this and try budgeting before they apply for food stamps.

I suppose a solution to this abusive manner would be what Jennifer has recommended...a limit on this program. I can understand for those families who are truly struggling they have to continually report and be evaluated say every quarter. This would also help justify the needy and weed out the liars and eventually have them removed from this program due false representation. However, there needs to be assistance for these families to help get them back on their feet and not be so dependent on the programs but become independent working citizens of today's society. Only then we can truly say that these programs have families get to a more comfortable state of living and will continue to do so.

A lot of American's are on "Food Stamps", some who don't really need it. Which irritates those who are having to pay for people who are to stupid to get a good job because they were to stupid to finish school. Yes, shit happens but I seem to agree with NO BULL IN AMERICA when they say that there should be limits and restrictions to food stamps. Some of the most wealthy looking families are the main ones mooching off all the honest tax payers. There should be a cut off point from food stamps, by if you have completed some high school, your work history, and creditability. Also, when he stated that having a budget would make saving money easier is true, but some moochers would rather drive Cadillac's and have free money for food.
